Tuition

Students pay tuition and fees for all hours in which they are enrolled.Tuition and fees charged are based on two factors: the type of course (On-campus or Virtual College) and the student's residency status. See in-state tuition requirements for more information.

Graduate tuition and fees are assessed based on course enrollment level rather than individual classification. Students will pay graduate tuition and fees for graduate credit courses and undergraduate tuition and fees for undergraduate credit courses. Graduate students enrolled in off-campus MBA classes will pay graduate MBA tuition. Graduate students enrolled in DNP classes will pay graduate DNP tuition. Special fees may be added to select approved courses, including noncredit courses, workshops, conferences, and seminars based on direct and indirect operating costs.

Housing

At Fort Hays State University, we strive to provide an inclusive, inspiring environment that makes way for excellence in your education - and your life. One of the best ways of immersing yourself in this community of strength and comradery is to take the opportunity to live on campus, with the world of Fort Hays State right outside your door.
Housing contracts open in November for the Fall 2019 - Spring 2020 school year.

Meals

Residential Life provides a variety of options designed to fit your schedule and lifestyle. All students within two years of highschool living on campus are required to have a meal plan, and FlexiCash is great for students who want an occasional meal or snack. Learn more below:

Books and Supplies

Books and supplies are not charged by the University with the exception of the Intersession term. You are personally responsible for the purchase of books and supplies. You may use your excess financial assistance that is refunded to you to pay for your books and supplies, if available; otherwise, you will need to use your own funds.

For Intersession only, FHSU offers the option of purchasing books and supplies at the FHSU Bookstore with excess financial aid funds using an FHSU Book Voucher. Book vouchers are available to students whose pending federal financial aid is greater than the total charges for both Intersession and Spring. If you qualify and wish to use a book voucher for Intersession, you must select the option in TigerEnroll when finalizing Intersession enrollment. You must be admitted as a degree-seeking student and your Spring FHSU enrollment must be finalized in order to receive a book voucher for Intersession.

Personal Expenses

Going to FHSU will cost more than just tuition, fees, books, and supplies. Each student must have a budget for personal expenses. This budget item ensures that the student's needs for items such as shampoo, laundry detergent, entertainment, and clothing are factored into college costs.

Transportation

Traveling to FHSU and back home is also an important part of the cost of attendance. The amount designated for transportation can include costs for operating and maintaining a vehicle which is used to transport the student to and from school, but not to purchase a vehicle.

Miscellaneous

Miscellaneous costs that may be factored into the cost of attendance can include the purchase of a personal computer that the student will use for study for the enrollment period, dependent care, a one-time direct cost of obtaining a first professional license or certificate, study abroad programs that are approved for credit, disability expenses, and loan fees.
